Akhir 05 , 1432 H. / March 10, 2011 -- A Singapore court on Thursday sentenced a man to six months in jail for caning his friends' two sons, causing multiple injuries to the victims, a media report said, according to dpa. The boys' parents had asked their 45-year-old friend, who was not named to protect the identity of the boys, to manage the children's discipline, the online edition of Straits Times newspaper reported. The man designed a strict daily routine for the 9- and 11-year-old-boys, who stayed with him. In April 2009, he gave the younger boy 30 strokes and the older one 20 strokes after he found them dozing off while studying, the report said. The man filed an appeal against his sentence. Many Singaporeans consider caning an acceptable form of punishment at home, but parents risk being charged with child abuse if the children are injured.
