Akhir 03, 1432, March 08, 2011, SPA -- Powerful explosion in the civil lines area here on Tuesday killed at least 15 persons while causing injuries to more than 30 others, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported. The police cordoned off the area after the explosion as rescue teams arrived at the scene. According to police, 15 people were killed and 35 others received injuries and were shifted to DHQ and Allied Hospitals. The blast caused damage to a CNG station, three buildings and ten cars. Rescue work was underway and efforts to remove the rubble of the buildings were in progress. Rescue sources feared that the number of fatalities was expected to rise, APP reported.
