Awwal 21, 1432 H/Feb 24, 2011, SPA -- Nigerian police say members of a radical Muslim sect shot dead a senior police officer in the country's troubled northeast, AP reported. The Borno State police chief said Thursday that two men on a motorbike killed an inspector Wednesday evening after following him to his home in the city of Maiduguri. Mohammed Abubakar said the gunman and the rider escaped and that no arrests have been made. The police blame a radical Muslim sect known as Boko Haram for a rash of motorcycle-mounted attacks which have left more than a dozen police officers and soldiers dead since July. -- SPA
