Superintendent Dave Cliff told reporters Thursday that police had been notified that 98 people were dead and that 226 people were missing. Prime Minister John Key said earlier that police held grave fears that around 200 people listed as missing may not have survived Tuesday's quake. The magnitude 6.8 temblor collapsed entire buildings and caused massive in Christchurch, one of New Zealand's largest cities.
