Awwal 11, 1432 H/Feb 14, 2011, SPA -- Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban defied critics of his country's new media law Monday - but disappointed international markets eager for details of promised structural reforms as he spoke in parliament at the start of the spring session. Hungary had "hit back" at those who questioned its democratic credentials and showed the substance of their attacks to be "laughable", dpa cited Orban as saying. "We will not be told what to do by any country, we will not accept monitors or supervisors from any country or organization of countries," Orban told the legislative assembly. In a furore that overshadowed its assumption of the six-month EU presidency in January, Hungary has been subject to fierce criticism of a new law that opponents fear could be used to stifle press freedom.
