Awwal 09, 1432 H/Feb 12, 2011, SPA -- A spokesman for U.S. automaker Chrysler said after a four-year hiatus the firm would give both white and blue collar workers bonuses this year, according to UPI. Company spokeswoman Shawn Morgan called a report that the average bonus check for salaried employees would be $10,000 "speculative," the Detroit Free Press reported Saturday. But Morgan confirmed the company was paying bonuses based on both individual and company performances. The company announced earlier that it would pay $750 bonuses to hourly workers despite losing $652 million in 2010. Morgan said the bonus pay for salaried workers was "considered confidential." Rival General Motors said its 26,000 salaried workers would receive bonuses between 4 percent and 16 percent of their base pay. A select few, less than 1 percent of its staff, would receive bonuses of up to 50 percent of their base pay, GM said. Ford Motor Co., which will pay a $5,000 bonus to union workers, has not said what it will pay to salaried staff. Ford made a profit of $6.6 billion last year.
