Egypt says Suez Canal remains open

Awwal 08, 1432, Feb 11, 2011, SPA -- Egyptian Minister of Finance Samir Radwan said on Friday that the Suez Canal is functioning normally, regional news network al-Arabiya reported, according to dpa.
The canal, a major shipping route linking the Mediterranean Sea
with the Red Sea, is a key source of revenue for Egypt.
Workers at companies at companies in the canal zone have been on
strike since last week for more pay.
