Awwal 06, 1432 H/Feb 09, 2011, SPA -- Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi is to visit Zimbabwe Thursday, an official at the Chinese embassy in Harare confirmed Wednesday. "He is coming for a two-day official visit and he will meet several senior government officials. Zimbabwe is a friend of China for years now," the German Press Agency dpa cited the official as saying. Although the Zimbabwean government has not provided details of the visit, government sources said Yang would be meeting with President Robert Mugabe. Last month, Zimbabwe's investment promotion minister Tapiwa Mashakada said the China Development Bank planned to fund investments worth 10 billion US dollars in the mining, agriculture and infrastructure sectors.
