US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton arrived in Haiti Sunday to meet President Rene Preval, other political figures and members of civil society in the wake of the November 28 elections. "We want to see the reconstruction continued. We want to see the voices and votes of the Haitian people acknowledged and recognized," Hillary Clinton said after meeting US embassy staff at Haiti's airport. "We want to see you move forward into a future that really meets the promise that has so often been held out as the potential of Haiti." "We have made it very clear we support the recommendations of the Organization of American States (OAS) and we would like to see those acted on," Hillary Clinton said. "But we have a long way to go, just as we have a long way to go in our ongoing work with Haiti," she said.
