South Korea has welcomed an agreement between leaders of the United States and China on the need to maintain peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and achieve its denuclearization, as AP reported. South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman Kim Young-sun told reporters Thursday that Seoul had a positive view regarding the outcome of the summit held in Washington. He urged North Korea to immediately stop all nuclear activities and demonstrate a responsible and sincere attitude to improving inter-Korean relations. President Barack Obama and Chinese leader Hu Jintao issued the joint statement on Korea on Wednesday. The U.S. and South Korea have a decades-long security alliance, while China is North Korea's key ally.
