The Bolivian government Friday issued a red alert due to the dengue's having spread to seven out of nine departments. "We are working to intensify epidemic vigilance, mainly in Trinidad, the place with most cases. The country is on red alert due to the presence of dengue in seven Bolivian departments," Xinhua quoted Health Minister Nila Heredia as saying. "There's no special budget for fighting dengue, but the Health Ministry is helping the epidemic areas with human resources. We send resources, not money," Heredia said. A sanitary alert has been issued for the department of Beni (Amazon), which borders Brazil. Beni has more than 1,000 dengue cases and 30 new cases everyday, with at least four people having already died.
