A march in central Athens by immigrants, unionists and human rights activists against a planned fence on the Greek-Turkish border has ended peacefully, according to AP. But police have clashed with stone-throwing extreme right counter demonstrators, chasing some into a local church and throwing tear gas inside. Police have been out in force to try to prevent clashes between the protest marchers and members of far-right group Chrysi Avgi, or Golden Dawn. Police say both sides have dispersed. Greece has announced a plan to build a a 12.5-kilometer (8-mile) fence on the border with Turkey to stem the tide of mostly South Asian migrants. Officially, about 128,000 migrants entered Greece illegally in 2010 _ the highest number in the European Union.
