Authorities say a car bomb has killed a policeman and wounded four others in a northern Iraqi town. Separate blasts in Baghdad have wounded five people. Security officials say the bomb-rigged car exploded as a police patrol moved passed it Tuesday in the town of Shurqat, 155 miles (250 kilometers) northwest of Baghdad. Dr. Ahmed Mawlood of the town's hospital gave the casualty figures, the Associated Press reported. Police and hospital officials in Baghdad say blasts in the capital wounded five people, including a university professor.
