German police thwarted an alleged blackmailer minutes after he collected a 50,000-euro (65,000 dollar) take in the southern German town of Woerth, officers said on Saturday, according to dpa. The 22-year-old had threatened an explosives attack on a machine retailer in Munich, police said. He had phoned the company in December and repeated his threat in a letter, demanding that they deposit the money in Woerth. The alleged blackmailer was stopped in his minibus overnight, after picking up the rubbish bag containing the cash. The man, a bicycle mechanic, admitted to the deed. He was already known to police, who had been investigating him in relation to other offences.
