A fire at a major oilsands plant in Northern Alberta has injured four workers and caused the shutdown of the facility that produces about 90,000 barrels of synthetic crude oil a day, according to AP. Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. said Friday that the fire broke out in an upgrader at its Horizon plant Thursday afternoon and was contained to the coker area. An upgrader converts thick, tarry bitumen into crude oil. The company says three people have been transported to hospital. Two of them for serious burns and a third person has a neck injury, but all in stable condition. The fourth person was treated at location. Jeff Winsor, chief operating officer of the Fort McKay First Nation, says the fire is now under control. -- SPA
