German factory orders surged in November as foreign demand for goods from Europe's biggest economy soared, data released on Thursday showed, according to dpa. The Ministry of Economics and Technology said that November industrial orders bounded ahead by 5.2 per cent, after rising 1.6 per cent in October. The consensus among analysts had been for a more orderly 1-per- cent gain. Analysts see the factory order book data as a key, if volatile, economic indicator. Powering the rise in November was an 8.2-per-cent jump in foreign orders. Domestic orders increased by 1.9 per cent. The ministry said the monthly increase in total orders reflected above-average demand for large orders.
