Under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance Sheikh Saleh bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh opened here today the 32nd King Abdulaziz International Competition for Holy Quran Memorization. The seven-day Competition is organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance at the Grand Mosque. The opening ceremony was attended by General President of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque Sheikh Saleh Al-Husain, Undersecretary of Umm Al-Qura University Dr. Adel Ghabashi, a number of ambassadors of Arab and Islamic countries accredited to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a number of officials. The King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Competition for Memorization, Recitation, and Explanation 2011, in its 32nd edition, aims to encourage youth to memorize the Holy Quran, learn its exegesis, practice its teachings and seek to spread awareness of the importance of the Holy Quran among Muslims.
