Officials say one militant leader and seven suspected militants have been killed in Russia's volatile North Caucasus region, as AP reported. Vyacheslav Gasanov, a police spokesman in the province of Dagestan said the eight men were killed in a shoot-out Sunday with police after they barricaded themselves in a house in the city of Makhachkala and refused to give up. One man has been identified as a militant leader who oversaw terrorist activities in the city, police said. Other men have yet to be identified.
