Road Transport and Highway Minister Kamal Nath on Tuesday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysia, a world player in constructing roads, to promote technical assistant services in highway management and development in India. The MoU was signed here by Kamal Nath and Malaysian Works Minister Shaziman bin Abu Mansor in the presence of premier Najib Razak. The MoU is expected to further enhance participation of Malaysian engineering and consultancy firms in the development of national highways in India, according to a report of the Press Trust of India (PTI). The pact encompasses providing technical assistance services on highway management, including upgrading Design Project Report (DPR) procedures, developing procedures for peer review of tunnel design, toll optimization studies and establishing information management procedures for setting up an Asset Management System for highways and expressways.
