Royal Dutch Shell PLC says it has agreed with state-owned Qatar Petroleum to study developing a new project in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. Shell said Tuesday the memorandum of understanding signed by the country's Minister of Energy & Industry Abdallah bin Hamad Al-Atiyyah includes potential production of 2 million tons per year of petrochemicals, including 1.5 million tons of mono-ethylene. The companies are already cooperating in building two major projects in Qatar, the «Pearl» gas-to-liquids plant and Qatargas 4, a liquefied natural gas project, the Associated Press reported.
