Trade Volume in UAE Free Zones Hits AED 286.6 Billion in 2009

The total trade volume in UAE free zones amounted to approximately AED 286.6 billion in 2009 of which imports accounted for AED 167.897 billion, while exports and re-exports reached AED 118.7 billion.
Accordingly, the total UAE trade volume (non-oil foreign trade and free zones trade) amounted to nearly AED 974 billion in 2009, of which imports hit AED 615.3 billion, while exports and re-exports contributed AED 331.7 billion.
The Federal Customs Authority (FCA) announced in a press release today that it has succeeded in creating its first audited statistics database for trade within the State's free zones, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM."
