The US Senate voted Wednesday to open debate on ratifying a new nuclear arms treaty with Russia despite objects from conservative Republicans who want it delayed until next year, dpa reported. The Senate voted 66-32 to begin debating the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, or New START, meaning a final vote on the pact could come within days. Formal debate is scheduled to begin Thursday morning.
