Malaysian Premier Najib Abdul Razak and the South Korean President Lee Myung-bak agreed yesterday to push for a bilateral free trade agreement and expand cooperation for energy development. This came as both leaders held summit talks in Putrajaya, near Kuala Lumpur. Lee and Najib also agreed to strengthen partnerships on oil and gas exploration, green industries such as solar energy and electric car battery production as well as nuclear power generation, biotechnology, information and telecommunication technology. They also exchanged views regarding the latest global political, security, economic, scientific and technological developments, Bahrain News Agency "BNA" reported. They also agreed to enhance their defence cooperation. Lee's two-day state visit to Malaysia, which began Thursday came as the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year.
