Hijjah 14, 1431, Nov 20, 2010 (SPA) -- Abu Dhabi will host the First 3-day GCC ministerial forum for integrated food policies, starting on November 22 under the patronage of UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The forum is organised by the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA), of which Sheikh Mansour is the Chairman. A statement said that "The ADFCA and the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) will host the ministers of agriculture and environment from several countries, including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Romania, Bulgaria and Kazakhstan for extensive discussions on food security". The event is organised on the fringes of the first Middle East edition of SIAL, one of the world's leading trade exhibitions for all those involved in the food industry, the UAE news agency "WAM" reported. This forum will explore the development of an integrated food policy for the Gulf by seeking common standards for food risk assessment and safety, nutrition, emergency response, and effective communication procedures for imminent risk. The UAE Ministry of Environment will host agriculture, finance, environment and trade ministers from the region to join them in a keynote session. A number of important workshops have also been planned as part of the event.
