Saudi Arabia Supports UNRWA

Hijjah 01, 1431, Nov 7, 2010, SPA -- The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Arab League, Ambassador Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Qattan has stressed that the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has given a great attention to provide support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) and increase its annual contribution to support UNRWA's budget from $ 1,200,000 to $ 2 million, noting that the Kingdom has provided exceptional contributions to UNRWA totaling $ 58,966,666.
In a statement today, the ambassador said that Saudi Fund for Development has already signed with UNRWA five memorandums of understanding in the areas of education, health and housing amounting to $ 44 million, the last one dated 10/10/2004.
