Qa'dah 12, 1431, Oct 20, 2010, SPA -- Saudi Arabia established diplomatic relations with Cambodia on Tuesday with the signing of a joint communiqué at the Saudi mission to the United Nations in New York City. The joint communiqué was co-signed by Saudi Envoy to the United Nations Khalid Al-Nafisee and his counterpart from Cambodia, Sea Kosal. Ambassador Al-Nafisee said afterwards that while good relations already exist between the countries, the establishment of diplomatic ties would enhance those relations. The Joint Communiqué states that the two nations desire to promote mutual understanding and consolidate relations of friendship and cooperation between their peoples. The two countries agreed that their relations are guided by the principles and objectives of the Charter of the United Nations. Cambodia has a population of just over 14 million people and it is bordered by Thailand, Laos and Vietnam.
