Afghan reconciliation, similar to the efforts carried out by the OIC in the 1980's. Quoting from the OIC Secretary General's statement at the Kabul International Conference held in July 2010, he spoke of the comprehensive strategy that needed to be taken forward by a greater Afghan ownership with increased regional cooperation and effective international partnership. The OIC Special Representative also elaborated on the OIC's assistance to reconstruction and development of Afghanistan through the OIC Assistance Fund for the Afghan people. He also referred to the upcoming OIC Summit to be held in Egypt in March 2011, where among others decisions, a key decision expected to be endorsed is the one on Afghanistan. Increased attendance of the OIC Member States and the participation of the OIC Special Representative drew particular attention as a significant development in line with the comprehensive strategy for bringing about security, stability and prosperity to Afghanistan.
