China Vice President Xi Promoted to Key Military Commission

Qa'dah 10, 1431, Oct 18, 2010, SPA -- Chinese state media say Vice President Xi Jinping has been promoted to vice chairman of a key Communist Party military committee.
The Xinhua News Agency reported Xi was elevated to the Central Military Commission at the annual meeting of the ruling party's Central Committee that ended Monday.
Appointment to the military commission and an identical government appointment are seen as necessary preparation for the top office, according to a report of the Associated Press.
