Qa'da 04, 1431, Oct 12 (SPA) -- A meeting of the defense ministers of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and eight other countries opened Tuesday in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi with calls for greater regional military cooperation. Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung delivered the opening speech in the meeting, which is entitled, "strategic cooperation for peace and stability in the region," saying that the session reflected "ASEAN's maturity and full cooperation in a series of areas." The countries participating in the meeting are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, MalaysiaMyanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, as well as the countries of the eight dialogue partners including China, Australia, US, India, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, and Russia, according to foreign news agencies reports.
