Dutch police say they have arrested 12 people for public disorder offenses as violence erupted briefly at the end of a demonstration by Moluccan separatists seeking independence from Indonesia. Several police officers in the Hague were slightly hurt in clashes with protesters, who threw plastic bottles and fireworks after a largely peaceful rally by about 600 people, according to AP. Thursday's demonstration was timed to coincide with a state visit by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. But Yudhoyono canceled his trip Tuesday after the separatists launched court proceedings to have him arrested for allegedly imprisoning and torturing peaceful protesters. A court in The Hague rejected the request, but Yudhoyono has not yet rescheduled his visit.
