Floods triggered by heavy rains have displaced thousands of villagers in central Vietnam, and left three people dead and three others missing, officials said Monday. Disaster official Tran Duc Thinh said some 14,000 villagers have been evacuated from their flooded homes. He said a man was killed by floods in Ha Tinh province and three others were reported missing. The national floods and storms control committee said Monday that one person was reported killed in each of the neighboring provinces of Quang Binh and Quang Tri. The committee said on its website that up to 23 inches (60 centimeters) of heavy rain fell in the region from Friday to Sunday, according to a report of the Associated Press.
