Published in Saudi Press Agency on 27 - 09 - 2010

Prince Naif Ibn Abdulaziz Al Saud, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of the Interior patronized here on Sunday evening the inauguration ceremony of the first scientific symposium of the Chair of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal for Inculcation of Saudi Moderation Approach.
Upon arrival at the venue, Prince Naif was received by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Ibn Abdulaziz, the Governor of Makkah Province, who is also Chairman of the Chair's Advisory Board; Prince Meshal Ibn Majed Ibn Abdulaziz, the Governor of Jeddah; and President of King Abdulaziz University Dr. Osama Sadiq Tayeb.
Addressing the ceremony, Prince Naif expressed his appreciation of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal for his adoption of the Chair and his support for its scientific, cultural and awareness activities, wishing the participants all success in adopting scientific recommendations to strengthen the moderate approaches in the minds of the Saudi society.
He said, "The moderation has been our approach on which founded our political, economic, cultural and social fundamentals. It is an Islamic approach derives from the Holy Quran and Prophet's Sunnah. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been dealing with its issues at home and abroad in a moderate approach which is far from immoderation. As for terrorism, which has harmed our country and we have lost some of our sons due to it, we have dealt with it in a moderate approach in terms of guidance for adherents of extremist ideology and attempts to turn them back to their rationality and the Kingdom's moderate approaches which have led to mitigating the effects of terrorism and the loss of lives and properties."
Prince Naif added, "The moderation in thought and behavior is a prerequisite of the Islamic religion. Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran, (Thus have We made of you an Ummat justly balanced,). Also it is a civilized requirement for co-existence of peoples, coalition of nations, and achievement of peace throughout the world."
Prince Naif addressed the teaching staff of the university saying," You shoulder the responsibility of teaching our sons moral values, which call for tolerance and moderation".
Then, Prince Naif replied to questions explaining the policy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in pursuing the moderate approach and its impact on their future and on combating extremism and immoderation.
Later, an announcement was made about the adoption of Prince Naif Ibn Abdulaziz Al Saud of "Prince Naif Chair for Moral Values."
