The GCC states audit bureaus are seeking to develop their structures and pursue more cooperation within their respective hemispheres to achieve the mutual benefit for all parties, a Kuwaiti official said. Undersecretary of Kuwait's Audit Bureau Abdulaziz Al-Roumi said in the opening of the 11th meeting for GCC Audit undersecretaries that developing the audit mechanism within the GCC framework was a must to achieve the ultimate goal of economic development, stressing that having a unified plan would lead to such sought results. For his part, Director General of the Audit Bureaus Affairs at the GCC Secretariat Aqel Al-Damiri lauded the meeting's efforts to prepare the agenda for the upcoming ninth meeting for the GCC's heads of Audit Bureaus to be held in Kuwait which will be focusing on exchanging expertise amongst audit facilities. Items on increasing government involvement within the audit sphere, enhancing the capabilities of audit bureaus, in addition to other subjects focusing on the development of GCC audit cooperation will be discussed in the meeting to be held here next month, KUNA reported.
