The first consignment of a 320MW duel fuel power plant gifted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has arrived in Pakistan, with the entire plant scheduled to reach completion of its three phases by the end of October, reported a Pakistani daily on Thursday. Daily Times quoting Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) spokesman as saying that the plant comprises five frames, each of 16MW, and eight frames each of 30MW. He said the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan had promised to donate a power plant to help the efforts of the government to increase power generation in the country. The power plant has been donated by the UAE government on the request of the Pakistani president. The gift by the UAE government not only fulfils the commitment made by the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, but also reflects the close and friendly relations between the two brotherly countries, the spokesman was quoted as saying by the UAE news agency "WAM".
