India has loaned Laos $74.55 million for two electricity infrastructure projects, state media reports said Tuesday. The loan agreement was signed Monday by representatives from the Lao government and the Export-Import Bank of India in the presence of the two countries' presidents, the Vientiane Times said. The loan agreement was inked on the final day of Indian President Pratibha Patil's five-day visit to Laos at the invitation of her counterpart, Choummaly Sayasone, according to a report of DPA. The two presidents also witnessed the signing of a letter of expression of investment interest between representatives of the India-based Tata Group and Laos' Energy and Mines Ministry and Planning and Investment Ministry. Pratibha Patil also traveled to neighboring Cambodia Monday for a five-day visit.
