Rebel, Policeman Killed In Chechnya

ON-DON, Russia, Ramadan 22, 1431/Sept 01, SPA -- Authorities in Chechnya say a policeman and a separatist fighter have been killed in a gun battle in the capital of the restive Russian region, the Associated Press reported.
Chechen Interior Ministry spokesman Lema Ziranov says three other policemen were seriously wounded in the Tuesday night shooting in Grozny.
Ziranov says the police had cornered the insurgent in a private home and demanded he surrender, but the man opened fire from a hunting rifle. The police returned fire.
