An earthquake shook an area in northern Iran on Friday, causing damage in three villages and injuring three people, Reuters quoted state television as reporting. Iran's seismological centre said the quake measured 5.9 and occurred in Iran's Semnan province. The U.S. Geological Survey said it measured 5.7. "A relatively mild earthquake shook an area east of Tehran," said state television. "Three villages in the area were damaged ... and three people were injured."
