A poll shows that most people think the United States remains unprepared for handling natural disasters, five years after Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. The survey by the Pew Research Center said that nearly 6 in 10, or 57 percent, say the country is not better prepared to handle another natural disaster. The poll finds that nearly 7 in 10 think progress has been made in rebuilding New Orleans—one of the major cities in Louisiana affected by Hurricane Katrina—and the Gulf, with 75 percent of the people from the south saying progress has been made.
