Aziz pertaining to issuance of fatwas, the Makkah-based Al-Nadwa said confining issuance of fatwas to only members of the council of senior Ulema as stated in a royal decree announced on Thursday, constitutes an important step in defending the religion. "Those who speak about religious matters without being qualified to do so are concerned with this important decision," said the paper noting that a fatwa is a great responsibility. The paper said some people used in the last days to announce strange fatwas in a manner that might lead to disunity, and added in the light of this fact we can say the decision of King Abdullah will serve the interests of the religion and the nation and will confine the responsibility of issuing fatwas to only qualified Ulema. --MORE
