One man was missing, presumed dead, Friday after an explosion in a fireworks factory in Malta, according to local news reports, dpa reported. The Mediterranean island was rattled by four successive blasts in the factory in the village of Dwejra. The blast was reportedly so loud that it was even heard on the neighbouring island of Gozo. Rescuers on the scene initially feared a bigger tragedy but news reports said the operation so far had confirmed one man was missing, presumed dead. The factory was preparing fireworks for the annual Santa Maria feast celebrated in Malta on August 15. The blast is the fourth involving a fireworks factory in Malta this year.
