Australian-born Crown Princess Mary is expecting twins, dpa quoted the Danish royal palace as saying Friday. The delivery is due sometime in January, the statement said. The announcement was made a day after the palace declined to comment on reports that the 38-year-old wife of Crown Prince Frederik was expecting her third child. Gossip magazines Se og Hoer and Her og Nu initially published the speculation about a new addition to the royal family, and an online site began taking bets. Se og Hoer cited Mary's recent choice of loose-fitting clothes and anonymous sources to back up their story, while Her og Nu noted that the princess had opted not to go horse riding - her favourite pastime - during a recent visit to Graasten Palace, where Queen Margrethe spends part of her summer holidays. Mary met Frederik, 42, in a Sydney pub during the 2000 Olympics. They were married in 2004. Their son Christian was born in October 2005, and daughter Isabella in April 2007.
