Saudi Communication and Information Technology Commission (CITC) announced here last night that it requested from all three telecom companies in the Kingdom to immediate block of the Blackberry services to businesses and individuals alike effective from 25-8-1431 corresponding to August 7, 2010. CITC said the Research In Motion Limited (RIM) the manufacturing company of the smartphone device has not complied with Saudi Arabian regulations. Blackberry services in its present condition do not meet the CITC's regulatory requirements for service license, a year ago, CITC informed all three service providers in the Kingdom of the necessity of work with RIM for fast response and fulfillment of the requirements. In statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), CITC has given STC, Mobily and Zain a grace period of three months that will end on upcoming Saturday as the regulation requirements were not met. CITC said it would not stand against the interests of subscribers as long as the provided services would not conflict with the commission regulations, CITC is keen on prompting telecom companies to provide the latest communication services in conformity with license requirements.
