Britain's Food Standards Agency says meat from the offspring of a cloned cow entered the food chain in the U.K. last year. Products from cloned animals and their offspring are considered «novel foods» in Britain and must be authorized, according to AP. The agency carried out an investigation after media reports said milk from the offspring of cloned animals had entered the U.K. food chain. The agency said Tuesday it has traced two bulls born in the U.K. from embryos harvested from a cloned cow in the U.S. It said one of the bulls was slaughtered in 2009 and its meat eaten. The other bull was slaughtered last week and its meat did not enter the food chain. The agency says it could not yet determine if milk from a cloned cow had been sold in the U.K.
