Indian authorities Sunday lifted a curfew across the Muslim-majority Kashmir valley after almost a week of violence - but the region remained tense with separatist leaders giving a call for a strike, a news report said, dpa reported. Sporadic incidents in which small groups of residents shouted slogans and pelted stones at security forces occurred in state capital Srinagar, the PTI news agency reported. Security restrictions such as orders banning assembly of people continued in districts like Baramulla, Anantnag and Pulwama and some parts of Srinagar, the report said. "The curfew has been lifted from the valley," the state's police chief Farooq Ahmad told the PTI. "However there are prohibitory orders in some parts of the city as well as in some districts," he added. But shops and business establishments remained shut in response to a shutdown called by a hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani. -- SPA
