Norway's secret service PST said on Thursday it has arrested three men suspected of planning a terror attack for the Al Qaeda network, according to dpa. A PST spokesman and a spokesman for the Oslo prosecution office said that the three were under arrest also in connection with "activities in the US and Britain." One of the arrested suspects is a Norwegian national, 39, of Uighur ethnic background who arrived as a refugee in Scandinavia. A further suspect, 37, is of Iraqi background and the third man, 31, is an ethnic Uzbek. Both these men had been granted permanent residence in Norway. Officials provided no further information on the suspicions against the men and on the cooperation with other countries leading up to the arrests. The three had been under surveillance for a long time, with police moving in now to make the arrests amid signs of press reports might be appearing which could tip the suspects off.
