Security forces opened fire on protesters in the southern Yemeni port city of Aden today, killing two and injuring eight, dpa cited witnesses as saying. Hundreds of people reportedly took to the streets in the Khour Maksar neighbourhood of Aden, as part of an anti-government demonstration marking the anniversary of the victory of northern forces over southern-led secessionists in a 1994 civil war. The protest was organised by the separatist Southern Movement, which has called for the south of Yemen to secede. Aden and several southern cities have been the scene of deadly clashes in recent months between security forces and supporters of the Southern Movement. -- SPA
