The U.S. Geological Survey says a 6.5-magnitude earthquake has struck southern Mexico. It says the quake hit at 2.22 a.m. local time (0722 GMT, 3:22 a.m. EDT). Its center was 75 miles (120 kilometers) west-southwest of Oaxaca, and 220 miles (355 kilometers) south-southeast of the capital, Mexico City, at a depth of 6.2 miles (10 kilometers), according to a report of the Associated Press.
