The 7th EU-OPEC Ministerial meeting will take place in Brussels on Monday to discuss the most recent energy policies and oil market developments and prepare the ground for future joint activities. According to EU sources, EU energy commissioner Guenther Oettinger will highlight the initiatives that the EU took in cooperation with the industry and EU states to maximize safety in offshore oil and gas installations. Oettinger, Abdalla Salem El-Badri, Secretary General of the OPEC, and Pedro Luis Marin Uribe, Spain's State Secretary for Industry and Trade, among others, will attend the meeting, according to a report of KUNA. Spain holds the current EU Presidency. The EU imports around 37 percent of its oil from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). The EU and OPEC established the high-level bilateral dialogue in 2004 to enhance producer-consumer relations. The 6th EU-OPEC dialogue was held in Vienna last year in June.
