Three people were killed and ten others injured in separate attacks in Iraq on Thursday, Iraqi police announced, according to dpa. Two policemen were killed and five policemen and civilians were injured when a bomb exploded near a police patrol in the northern city of Mosul. The Iraqi army shot dead a suicide bomber who had been planning on detonating explosive devices in his car in a crowded market for the sale of sheep and livestock in the area of Tal Afar, around 50 kilometers west of Mosul. The suicide bomber was shot and immediately died near one of the market's gates. Iraqi soldiers were able to dismantle the explosive devices in his car. A bomb targeting the convoy of a high-ranking police officer left five people including body guards injured in the city of Kirkuk, 250 kilometres north of the capital of Baghdad. Iraqi security forces arrested six members of al-Qaeda in the area of al-Akidat, west of Mosul.
