Apple said today that it has sold 3 million iPads in the 80 days since the tablet computer was introduced in the US market, according to dpa. "People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives," said Apple's CEO Steve Jobs in a statement. "We're working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month." Developers have created more than 11,000 new apps exclusively for the iPad, a device that is expected to herald a surge in demand for tablet computers that are controlled via a touch screen interface rather than the mouse and keyboard that have dominated personal computing so far. The iPad runs almost all of the more than 225,000 apps available for the iPhone. It was launched internationally end-May, where long lines formed in the nine countries where it went on sale - Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
